Message from your PTSA Co-Presidents

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! The board members of Kirkland Junior High PTSA would like to extend a warm welcome to all the families in our community.

With the financial challenges our school district is facing - now, more than ever, parents and community members must look at creative ways to support our children and our schools to ensure we provide the best possible education and environment for the young adults who are our future. As we start the school year we want to encourage you to explore different ways to support your junior high student(s). One great avenue to do this is by supporting the PTSA.

There are many opportunities for you to share your time, talent, skill, voice and ideas – whether you are chairing a committee; volunteering to help at a PTSA sponsored event; helping from home; you attend a general membership meeting to provide input or you are interested in a leadership role – WE NEED YOU! And, your children need you! In this package you will find a volunteer form that lists the many opportunities for you to help KJH stay strong and become even better.

How do I keep informed?  There are basically two ways that we will communicate this year and we hope you access both avenues because each offers different information. Sign up at Trumba.com for up-to-date school activity information. Read our newsletter, “The Panthergram” by going to the KJH website. You can also pick up a copy in the school office.

Our first General Membership meeting will be October 13^th – which will be held in the Commons from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Last but not least, we hope to see you at Curriculum Night on September 15^th. We will have cookies and coffee beforehand so you can catch up with other parents, meet new parents and meet your student’s teachers. This is also our biggest fundraiser of the year, “The Big Give”; you will find additional information in this packet. So remember to bring your checkbook or cash.

We are excited to partner with you as we work together to make this an unforgettable year!
